Marketing a ‘stimulus-response’ activity?
I’ve just read a very interesting series of blog posts by Allen Mitchell, where he talks about how marketers have made a BIG error – a misperception – that pervades everything marketers do. And OMG he doesn’t hold back on marketing’s traditional belief systems.
But, what is this whopping great big marketing error?

Well, it’s our industry’s belief that marketing is a ‘stimulus-response’ activity where marketers send out various types of stimuli to consumers, whose attitudes and behaviours are then changed, to elicit certain desired responses. I think I have to agree.
Because on this, Allen thinks marketing is suffering from a bad case of schizophrenia.
The Ries Report – Shape of a Logo
According to Al Ries the shape of the logotype should fit the eyes. Hmmm…what do you think creatives? Is he correct? Watch The Ries Report and see if you agree with him.
How do you rate the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI)?
Please all constructive comments on the Australian Marketing Institute below, thank you:)
Australian Marketing Institute Short of Money?
The reason I ask this question is that I’ve just received a letter & Invoice from the Australian Marketing Institute, dated 07 December 2007, telling me that my membership is now due for renewal and to be paid within 14 days i.e. 21st December 2007.
What’s wrong with that? I hear you say.
Well…as stated on the invoice, my membership renews on the 1st February 2008.
So, the Australian Marketing Institute is asking me to give them my hard earned cash, just before Christmas, 42 days before my memberships is officially due.
Again I ask the question…is the Australian Marketing Institute short of Money? or do they need my money to fund this years AMI office Christmas party?
Is it possible that no one within the Australian Marketing Institute administration has ever taken a services marketing course at Uni or one of their own?
