Meet the authors of Age of Conversation 3: Its time to get busy

Posted by gordon on March 23rd, 2010

Age of Conversation 3I’m excited to reveal that the latest in the epic collaborative book franchise Age of Conversation 3: it’s time to get busy will be publish in April.

Age of Conversation 3: it’s time to get busy has a total of 170 contributing authors from around the globe in a ground-breaking collaborative and some say unusual publication. Proceeds from the sale of this book (less printing and shipping) will go to a variety of charities.

Conceived by Drew McLellan and Gavin Heaton, the first book in the Age of Conversation franchise was released in 2007. Drew and Gavin challenged over 100 marketing bloggers to share their ideas and thoughts on the art of dialog in the new emerging online economy.

A year later Drew and Gavin did it again gathering 237 of the world’s leading marketers, writers, thinkers and creative innovators to publish Age of Conversation 2: why don’t they get it?

Drew and Gavin didn’t do everything – only the hard parts. The Age of Conversation 3: it’s time to get busy book cover was designed by Chris Wilson and a new website was created by the hard working and some say good looking team at Sticky.

Now, it’s time to meet the authors. I’ve placed the Australian authors first, not out of thinking we are special, but so our local media can easily identify us.

Here are the Australian’s among us:

South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences & Festivals attracts some of the best speakers, the biggest global brands and thought leaders from the digital world. And it has a reputation as being THE place for global networking.

Unfortunately for me, I’ve never had the chance to attend – maybe next year.

But at least I have Youtube.

Send your mind back to the launch of the iPhone. Although you may not recall the first App you downloaded – what you will remember is the ease of use or the purchase experience. It’s an experience that has led to the Apple’s Apps Store selling more than $200 million worth of apps every month and unleashing the new app economy.

For those of you still relying on fax machines or hiding behind the Berlin Wall of firewalls – Apps are small software applications designed to be used on Smartphones such as the Apple iPhone, the Blackberry or other mobile devices such as the Apple iPod. And now, the Apple iPad.

If you look past the games, juvenile beer drinking apps or childish farting programs (my 10 year old son loves this App) is a world of nifty little programs that are creating fortunes for entrepreneurs and changing the way we do and can do business.

The success of the Apple’s Apps Store has basically kick-started what is now called the Apps Economy with nearly every producer of smart technologies trying to copy Apple’s business model. This includes some the biggest companies in the world like Google, Nokia and Microsoft.
